Future Champions League – January 2025

A new recreational curling league will run Sunday afternoons 2-4 pm starting in January 2025 and is called the Future Champions League.  This league builds on previous iterations, the Learn to Curl program, and other feedback and observations and all being leveraged to continuously improve the experience for everyone.

This new recreational league has been designed to support curlers, with less than 6 years of curling experience, to:

  • Further develop curling skills,
  • Improve on-ice confidence,
  • Enjoy the game at its core, and thus further integrate within the NGCC curling community.

This formal league will consist of short draws, with fixed teams, ensuring that players get enough time to explore their positions value and expectations in the context of healthy competitive game play.

The multi-skilled teams will include both newer curlers (focusing on core skills such as rock delivery, sweeping and communication) and more experienced curlers (focusing on strategy, instruction and feedback to their team).

Throughout the league and its game play, coaches will be available for guidance and targeted feedback to help teams settle in and learn how to play/support each other during the game.

Interested?  This Winter League can accommodate up to 40 curlers for up to 10 teams.  Please connect with Allen McKeown ([email protected]) for more details or sign up for this league through the portal https://north-grenville.curling.io  and select the Future Champions League. Existing members will receive multi-league discounts. New member fees are $358.07 adult or $335.47 senior (select “Winter” to “Full or half year” prompts).

*** New calendar feature in Curling I/O ***

It is now possible to subscribe to the calendar for your league (or any NGCC league!) Of course, this assumes that your league convenor has setup the teams and draws online (which is true for most leagues).

All you need to do is go to Curling I/O, logon, and click on “Account” (top right). Click on “Calendars”. A page will be displayed that allows you to subscribe to your team calendars, any league calendar, or your events calendar. Give it a try… gone are the days of manually entering your games in your personal calendar!
