Curling is a game requiring hand/eye co-ordination: a game of skill, strategy and luck but above all it is a game of fun.
During the clinic, you will be introduced to:
- the basics of the game
- how the game is played and scored
- the equipment required to play the game
- the etiquette of the sport. For example, we start and end every game with a handshake.
The training is delivered over three days.
- Sunday, September 25th from 1:00 to 3:30 pm to learn about the game. This is an off-ice session.
- Tuesday, September 27th from 7 to 9 pm to learn more about the game and an opportunity to get on the ice.
- Thursday, September 29th from 7 to 9 pm for a evening on the ice where you will continue to practice delivering a rock and sweeping before you start league curling.
If you can't attend all three nights, it is important to attend the first two sessions on September 25 & 27 where you learn about the game and be introduced to the skills required to deliver a rock and sweep.
How to register: Sign-up during our one of our registration dates or register online under EVENTS.
Cost: FREE for members. $20.00 for non-members. Payment will be collected at the door during the first session. And remember, if you join one of our leagues and become a member after the course, the cost of the training will be applied against your membership fee.
What to bring: One the first night, bring a pen & paper to take some notes. For the on-ice sessions, be sure to wear comfortable layered clothing and 'clean' running shoes. It is important that the soles of your shoes be free from any dirt and debris before you step onto the ice. Brooms and sliders are available at the club to use during the clinic.
