Curling is a game requiring co-ordination, skill, strategy and luck but above all it is a game of fun!
Curling is more fun when you understand the basic skills. We are excited to offer this program to new curlers and those who may not have played recently. It will help you feel comfortable and confident on the ice so you can enjoy the sport of curling and have fun as well.
The program runs on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 pm for 8 weeks starting on October 27 continuing to December 22.
During the lessons, you will be introduced to:
- curling terminology
- basic rock delivery and sweeping
- how to play and score the game
- etiquette on and off the ice
The program helps entry level and novice curlers get progressively better through continued weekly instruction and skill development. During the program, we provide off ice instruction and on ice coaching. During the on ice sessions you will be shown and have an opportunity to practice the mechanics of delivering a rock as well as how to sweep. By the end of the course, you will be able to play the game. Following the completion of the program, participants are welcome to fill open spots in leagues in January 2020 for an additional $169.50.
The course uses comprehensive material provided by Curling Canada. It is called Getting Started for Adults. There are also video clips on the Curling Canada web site for novice curlers so you'll have an idea what we'll be doing during the sessions.
