New registration approach for the 2020-2021 season

Like so many other non-profit sports organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic has required the North Grenville Curling Club to rethink our approach to member registration and the return to curling for the upcoming season.  After careful consideration of different approaches, the board is moving forward with a two-step approach as communicated during the Annual General Meeting on August 20th.

We need the financial commitment from at least 250 adult and senior members, before we can start curling in January 2021.

Step 1: Membership Commitment (sign in now until October 15th)

Returning members can sign in now to confirm their interest in curling and their financial commitment to the club. Send us an email if you need help resetting your User ID and/or Password.

Only three levels of membership will be available for the upcoming season: Adult, Senior and Social. Members are encouraged to complete the online form and pay online. During the online process, members have the option to pay the full membership fee typical for a full year of curling or if, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you are experiencing financial hardship, a reduced rate 75% is available. Optionally, members can sign-up at the club in the evening on September 24th or during the morning on September 26th and pay their membership at this time.  Refer to the email for exact times.

Membership payments must be received by October 15, 2020 unless installment payments are arranged with the Treasurer.

Curl / No Curl Decision (late October)

In late October, the board will review the member sign-up results and determine if the curling club will open or not. Members will be advised of the decision in early November.

  • CURL: If the club achieves the required level of financial commitment, members will be notified that league registration will open in November and the curling ice will be ready in December for a January start. Step 2 is triggered.
  • NO CURL: If we do not achieve the required level of financial commitment, members will be advised that the club will be closed for the season and League Registration is cancelled.

Note: Youth registration is on hold until the Curl / No Curl decision is made in late October.

Step 2: League Registration and New Member Sign-Up (November)

Members who have demonstrated their Membership Commitment will be invited to register in one or more leagues. Leagues will be aligned to the club's Return to Curling guidelines which may limit the number of people on the ice and within the facility at any one time.

New Members and returning members who did not complete the Membership Commitment process will be able to sign up and fill open spots within the leagues in late November.

The ice will be available in December for members to get familiar with the safety protocols within the club and practice on the ice before league play in January.
