In May 2016, the North Grenville Curling Club was honoured to be selected by the World Curling Federation and Curling Canada as the testing site to resolve last year's controversy regarding the new technologies in brooms and sweeping techniques that were seriously changing the game.

The best curlers in the world met at our club to test brooms from various manufacturers under the direction of scientists from Canada's National Research Council.

Many articles were written on the event. Feel free to search the internet or click this link to learn about the testing:  http://www.worldcurling.org/ss2016-update

A decision that will impact the sport around the globe is expected in September 2016.

Having monitored the pandemic and discussed the pros and cons of hosting the Women's Fall Classic, we unfortunately came to the difficult decision to cancel our marquis event for this year. All interested parties have been informed of our decision. While this is an unfortunate and disappointing turn of events, the organizing committee and the Board unanimously agreed that we acted in the best interest of participants, volunteers, and supporters.

We plan to hold this event within the same timeframe, towards late October - early November in 2021. We will provide updates as we finalize the dates.

Our club proudy hosted the 14th annual Royal Lepage Women’s Fall Classic Curling Event.  This is a World Curling Tour event involving an international mix of teams from Japan, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Nunavut, Quebec and Ontario.

All twenty-four teams in the Royal LePage Women’s Fall Classic had one goal when they threw their first rocks on Thursday: to hoist the Fall Classic Shield and hold the $6,000 first place cheque. Thanks to our generous sponsors, this prize purse has grown to a total of $21,000 and we are able to attract high calibre curlers to the event.

A big thank you to Doreen O'Sullivan and all of the volunteers, sponsors, and home hosts who made this happen. Many of the teams expressed their gratitude for the welcoming hospitality and the calibre of the event.

TH Roar of the Rings Ottawa 2017

If you watched Canada Cup of Curling on TV you know just how much a spot in the Roar of the Rings Olympic Curling Trials means to elite Canadian curlers.

The competition will be held in Ottawa, at Canadian Tire Centre, from December 2 to 10, 2017. This event will be bigger and better than the Brier that was held in Ottawa last March!

Curling Canada and the event organizers are offering special programs to encourage attendance. Spectators can purchase full event passes and gain credit for their home club by using the club promo code. For every 10 full event passes purchased using the club promo code, two (2) free event passes will be supplied to the club. The promo code can be used by club members, their family members or by friends. The point is to boost attendance, but the collateral benefits will come to NGCC.

For those planning to attend the full Roar of the Rings event, or if you know someone who plans to attend, this is a good opportunity to book the seats you want and benefit the club at the same time.

Click here to view the step by step instructions on how to purchase your full event ticket package(s) and support our club!
