The following Leagues are available at the North Grenville Curling Club:
Recreational Men's League (not fixed teams) - Monday morning
This is a Men’s recreational league for curlers of all skill levels. New members with previous curling experience are welcome!
The League can accommodate up to 20 teams (80 curlers maximum) in two separate draws.
The season consists of up to four separate sessions (approximately 6 weeks in duration) established by the League Convenor. Individuals are assigned to a team for each session based on position (Lead, Second, Third and Skip) preference to the extent possible. Teams are changed in subsequent sessions. The intent is to balance the teams and to give members a chance to play with as many other club members as possible.
Eight-end games of 2 hours maximum. Draws start at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM (Team start times alternate week-to-week.)
Recreational Women’s League (not fixed teams) - Monday afternoon
This is a Women’s recreational league for curlers of all skill levels. New members with previous curling experience are welcome!
The League can accommodate up to 10 teams (40 curlers maximum) in one draw.
The season consists of a series of sessions (approximately 6-8 weeks in duration) established by the League Convenor. Individuals are assigned to a team for each session based on position (Lead, Second, Third and Skip) preference to the extent possible. Teams are rotated in subsequent sessions. The intent is to balance the teams and to give members a chance to play with as many other club members as possible.
Eight-end games of 2 hours maximum start at 1:30 pm ends at 4pm
Competitive Mixed League (2 women / 2 men per team) - Monday evening
This is a competitive league for mixed-teams consisting of 2 women and 2 men with good curling skills.
The League can accommodate up to 10 teams (40 curlers maximum) in one draw. The season consists of 2- round robin sessions (approximately 10 weeks in duration) and a final playoff established by the League Convenor.
Fixed teams play together throughout the year and full teams should be submitted during registration if possible. Each mixed team is made up of 2 women and 2 men that alternate positions (eg. Lead - woman, Second - man, Vice - woman and Skip - man or vice versa).
Couples and Single players are also welcome to express their interest in playing and the League Convenor will endeavour to combine players into unfilled teams.
Eight-end games of 2 hours will alternate start times with the Monday Recreational Mixed League. The early start will be at 6:30 pm and the later start at 9:00 pm.

Individuals and couples are assigned to a team for each session based on position (Lead, Second, Third and Skip) preference to the extent possible. Teams are rotated in subsequent sessions. The intent is to balance the teams and to give members a chance to play with as many other club members as possible.
Eight-end games of 2 hours will alternate start times with the Monday Competitive Mixed League. The early start will be at 6:30 pm and the later start at 9:00 pm.
Recreational Drop-in League (mixed teams) - Tuesday morning
This is a mixed recreational league and is a great place to start curling if you are new to our community. New members with previous curling experience are welcome!
The League uses a ‘drop-in and play’ format.
The League can accommodate up to 10 teams (40 curlers maximum) in one draw. When you arrive each week, you will be assigned to a team based on your position preference by the League Convenor.
This league provides a great opportunity to curl in a relaxed social atmosphere and to hone your curling skills. If the number of curlers exceeds 40 for this league, you may be asked to play in either the Tuesday or Thursday morning draw.
Games starts at 9:00 AM and conclude by 11:30 AM.

The League can accommodate up to 10 teams (40 curlers maximum) in one draw. (If numbers warrant, this league can expand to two draws with up to 20 teams and 80 curlers.)

Individuals are assigned to a team for each session based on position (Lead, Second, Third and Skip) preference to the extent possible. Members are shuffled to new teams in subsequent sessions. The intent is to balance the teams and to give members a chance to play with as many other club members as possible.

Competitive Open League (fixed teams) - Thursday evening
This is a competitive league open to men's, women's and mixed teams that will play in a ladder draw format. This league is suitable for experienced curlers of various skill levels.
The League can accommodate up to 20 teams (80 curlers maximum) and operates in a ladder format with four divisions (A thru D). This will ensure a suitable level of competition among the teams. The season consists of a series of round robin sessions (generally four weeks in duration) established by the League Convenor. Divisions are adjusted following each draw based on teams' overall record. A play-off format at the end of the season will determine Club Champions in each Division.
Teams play together throughout the year and should be submitted during registration. Single players are welcome to express their interest in playing and the League Convenor will endeavour to find them placement on an existing team with an open position.
Eight-end games of 2 hours maximum have start times at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm alternating each week.
Recreational Mixed League (not fixed teams) –Friday afternoon
This is a mixed recreational league and is a great place for curlers of all skill levels. New members with previous curling experience are welcome!
The League can accommodate up to 20 teams (80 curlers maximum) in two separate draws.
The season consists of three sessions (approximately 6 weeks in duration) established by the League Convenor. Individuals and couples are assigned to a team for each session based on position (Lead, Second, Third and Skip) preference to the extent possible. If two draws are filled, then each draw will consist of six-end games with start times at 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm alternating each week.

Little Rocks / Instructional Program - Sunday Morning
The Little Rock / Instructional Program runs from 9:00 - 11:00 on Sunday mornings.
This program is offered to young curlers and new curlers aged 8 to 12. Focus will be on learning the basics of curling including delivery, sweeping, etiquette and strategy in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Use of lighter rocks (20 pounds versus 40 pounds) is encourage for our youngest curlers so that strong fundamentals can be developed at a young age.
- Required Equipment: Head protection, clean shoes and warm clothing.
- Optional Equipment: Broom, Curling Shoes (Club can provide brooms and step on sliders for new curlers)

U15/U18 Program - Sunday Afternoon
The U15/U18 Program (formerly the Youth Development Program) runs from 11:30 - 1:30 pm on Sunday afternoons.
The U15/ U18 program is geared to kids 12-17 years of age. We welcome both new and experienced curlers into this program. For new curlers, we teach them the basics and move forward as they gain experience. For experienced curlers, we work on the finer points of the game, encouraging them to improve techniques and develop strong skills. Often they will form teams and go to bonspiels. Granite rocks are used in this program.
- Required Equipment: clean sports shoes and warm clothing.

If you are a Junior curler (aged 18 to 20) who is interested to play on Sunday afternoons instead of playing in one of the Adult leagues during the week, please contact the Youth Program Coordinator.
Learn to Curl Program - Sunday Afternoon
The Learn to Curl Program is specifically designed for new curlers and those previous curlers who may not have played recently and are looking to retrieve their skills. It will help you feel comfortable and confident on the ice.
The program runs for 8 weeks from late October through December. It is held on Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 and can accommodate up to 50 participants. It caters to both hack and stick curlers.
Learn to Curl participants with previous curling experience are encouraged to wait until the completion of the course to join a recreational league or until recommended by the course coordinator. Participants that are new to curling are required to wait until the completion of the program before joining our leagues.
In Learn to Curl you will learn about curling terminology, essential equipment, rock delivery and sweeping techniques, how the game is played and scored, as well as etiquette on and off the ice. While there is some classroom instruction, most of the teaching takes place in small groups on the ice.
